Blending house Compass Box has released an anniversary edition of its whisky Flaming Heart, in celebration of 25 years since its founding in 2000.
The special edition of Flaming Heart is blended from peated whiskies as well as whiskies matured in French oak casks. Compass Box has said it has used the "fewest possible elements" to showcase the whisky's smoky flavour and oak-aged character.
Lead whiskymaker James Saxon commented: “With Flaming Heart: 25th Anniversary Edition, we’re inviting whisky lovers to join the celebration, raise a glass, and embrace the bonfire fuelling 25 years of passion and storytelling. We feel like this blaze is just beginning.”
Tasting notes shared by the brand highlight smoke, spice, raspberry, and apricot on the nose, a clove, pepper, and nutmeg palate, and a long, smoky finish.
Saxon added: “This release isn’t just a nod to where we’ve been; it’s a declaration of where we’re headed. The bold character of Flaming Heart: 25th Anniversary Edition reflects everything Compass Box stands for: daring innovation, craftsmanship, and our constant pursuit of unforgettable flavour.”
First released in 2006, Flaming Heart takes inspiration from an M.Ward song of the same name. Compass Box says "the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll is synonymous with the whisky"; accordingly, the brand has released a curated playlist to complement the 25th anniversary release.
Flaming Heart: 25th Anniversary Edition (48.9% ABV, RRP £130) is available now via www.compassboxwhisky.com.
