CopperCairn, Mitch Bechard’s whisky events agency and consultancy, has created the first retreat combining whisky and wellness – the No Sleep Till Speyside Whisky and Wellness Retreat.

Set in the beautiful Speyside countryside, with all its natural beauty and whisky history, the 4-day all-inclusive retreat will combine whisky education and tutored tastings, bespoke culinary experiences using locally sourced ingredients prepared by a private chef, holistic therapies such as sound healing, massage and meditation, restorative yoga, and more.

To create the experience, which takes place on 17 to 20 June 2022, Bechard has teamed up with yoga instructor, Claire Martin; head chef at Tattu, Edinburgh, Emma Hanley; and holistic therapist, Jo Bechard.

With only ten places available, the retreat aims to create a very personal experience. It will be based at Craigellachie Lodge, which boasts five deluxe en-suite rooms, a fully licenced bar, and a large dining room, and is walking distance from The Craigellachie Hotel and Highlander Inn.

The four days will comprise a combination of whisky tours at Speyside distilleries, whisky dinners and tastings, yoga sessions, sound baths, and mindful relaxation.

Mitch Bechard said, “Whisky is my passion that I love to share with people. I have been doing that for the past 15 years as a whisky ambassador. I am always looking at new and interesting ways to show people the craft and beauty of Scotch whisky. My wife practises holistic therapies, and we were looking at retreats that specialise in this which gave us the idea of combining the two together.”

Jo Betchard added, “Retreats are all about escaping the day-to-day and immersing yourself in something that feeds the soul and awakens the senses. Wellness doesn’t have to mean that you can’t enjoy the things in life that don’t necessarily fit into that category. Life is all about balance – the Yin and Yang – and both Mitch and I feel strongly that this retreat offers people the chance to experience that.”

The retreat costs £995 per person, based on two people sharing a room. This will include all meals, yoga sessions, sound bath sessions, a distillery visit, a three-course paired whisky dinner and, of course, whisky.
