Scottish Highland distillery Fettercairn has unveiled major revamps for its domestic and travel-retail whisky ranges as its enters its bicentennial year.
The refreshed ranges each comprise three whiskies, available at a range of age statements and price points (starting at £52), which the distillery hopes will entice both new and existing fans of its single malt. All the whiskies are exclusively matured in ex-bourbon casks to better show off Fettercairn's distinct tropical house style.
The new domestic range includes: the 12 Years Old (40% ABV), designed for sipping or as a cocktail base; the 16 Years Old (46.4% ABV), which was previously only an annual limited edition; and 24 Years Old (46.5% ABV). Chosen by Fettercairn whisky maker Gregg Glass and distillery manager Stewart Walker, the expressions are designed to showcase the development of the distillery's single malt.
Meanwhile, the travel retail-exclusive trio comprises the 14 Years Old (46% ABV), 17 Years Old (47% ABV), and the oldest of the new core ranges, the 25 Years Old (46.3% ABV). All are non-chill filtered and bottled with only natural colour.
The refreshed ranges will be available through specialist and luxury retailers from April. Their release marks the beginning of Fettercairn's 200th anniversary celebrations, with further releases and events planned throughout 2024.
Fettercairn 18 Years Old, the first release in the distillery's Scottish oak programme and the first regular whisky release to be finished in Scottish oak casks, will continue to be available annually in select markets in limited quantities.
