Single cask whisky bottler Ferg & Harris has released a collection of five new single cask whiskies, the brand’s first release in 2024.
The cask selected are from Bunnahabhain, Craigellachie, Tormore, and Longhorn distilleries. Each whisky has spent time in a finishing cask, to amplify different flavours within the bottlings.
A highlight in the collection is the ‘sister’ whiskies from Craigellachie. The 15-year-old Craigellachie, originally matured in an amontillado sherry butt, was split between one new oak and one white port cask in order to discover the different characteristics revealed in the final whiskies.
The collection includes:
- Tormore 11 Years Old (63.3% ABV, RRP £89.99) — matured in a first-fill bourbon cask and finished in a new oak cask.
- Longmorn 12 Years Old, (58.8% ABV, RRP £129.99) — matured in a first-fill bourbon cask and finished in a white port cask.
- Bunnahabhain 14 Years Old (54.7% ABV, RRP £139.99) — matured in a second-fill oloroso hogshead and finished in a Sauternes barrique.
- Craigellachie 15 Years Old Virgin Oak (64.2% ABV, RRP £129.99) — matured in an amontillado sherry butt and finished in a new oak cask.
- Craigellachie 15 Years Old White Port (63.1% ABV, RRP £129.99) — matured in an amontillado sherry butt and finished in a white port cask.
Each bottling is non-chill filtered and released with natural colour.
Co-founder Alex Harrison commented: “When aged whisky meets exotic wood, there’s an element of alchemy that produces a sometimes unexpected but always incredible dram. The latest five whiskies to join our collection are very special. Each cask was already a first-rate single malt whisky, but we have added that little bit of extra time in a richly flavoured finishing wood, and that’s when we see the magic happen.
“That quality, character and the extra finish is what distinguishes every Ferg & Harris bottling and we hope whisky fans will enjoy exploring and tasting our latest collection.”
Ferg & Harris was founded in 2021 by Young Spirits, an Edinburgh-based spirits and bottling business. Harrison and co-founder John Ferguson source the liquids from Scotch distilleries before finishing them for the Ferg & Harris ‘character’.
The collection is now available via Ferg & Harris.
