All the whiskies in the limited-edition Coastal Casks collection are aged between 10 and 11 years and were distilled soon after Glenglassaugh restarted production in 2008 following a two-decade silence. Each was taken from single cask and will be released in an individually numbered bottle.
Hand-selected by master blender Dr Rachel Barrie, the whiskies capture the character of Glenglassaugh's Highland single malt, which is distilled on Sandend Bay on the Moray Firth and is influenced by the powerful elements in its coastal location. The warehouses where the whiskies were matured benefit from air off the North Sea, which lends a signature colour and palate to the liquids.
Dr Barrie said: "No matter what is happening in the world around us, each day the surf rolls in on Sandend Bay and the invigorating North Sea air passes through our coastal distillery and warehouses. That’s the beauty of Glenglassaugh's coastal casks, each truly a distillation of nature’s elements, come wind, rain or shine.
"More than a decade since the spirit reawakened in 2008, Coastal Casks is the first global release of a selection of Glenglassaugh cask bottlings at 10 and 11 years old. Like the surf in Sandend Bay, each cask brings rolling waves of flavour that intensify and evolve in each and every sip.
Nurtured by the coast, each Glenglassaugh Coastal Cask shares a unique and luscious sweetness."
The Glenglassaugh Coastal Casks collection whiskies are bottled at 51.1% to 57.9% ABV and are non-chill filtered. Prices range from £89 for a 10 years old cask to £99 for an 11 years old bottling. Each coastal cask will be made available in a different location worldwide (global pricing and date availability may vary).
