International Beverage has announced the global roll out of Prakaan, Thailand’s first premium single malt whisky following the success of its launch into domestic and Asian markets last year.

It will debut with a range of three single malts: Prakaan Select Cask; Prakaan Double Cask; and Prakaan Peated Malt, named collectively as The Tribura Series. All three have been crafted at the Prakaan distillery in the province of Kamphaeng Phet, which sits within Thailand’s northernly Western Forest Complex.

All three in the range are bottled at 43% ABV. Prakaan Select Cask has an RRP of £65, and has been described by the producers as having aromas of soft tropical fruit and zesty citrus, with sweet caramelized pineapple notes on the palate.

The hope is that the launch will put Thai whisky on the global spirits map, while showcasing International Beverage’s expertise in producing premium spirits around the world.

An initial focus will be placed in the UK, France, and Germany in 2025, with the US and other markets to follow.

Prakaan Double Cask is available at an RRP of £74, with the producers describing it as having aromas of melting chocolate and vanilla, with notes of pineapples in syrup and ripe mangoes on the palate.

Commenting on the global launch, Veronica Amago, global sales director at International Beverage, said: “This is a historic day for our business and for Thailand as we launch the country’s first ever single malt whisky onto the world stage."

Prakaan Peated Malt is described as having a unique smoky character, with notes of caramel and runny honey on the palate. This expression is available at £69.

"Prakaan Distillery is the result of care, precision and skilful planning, and our whisky is defined by the skill and expertise of our formidable whisky creation team in Kamphaeng Phet," continued Amago. "The recently awarded inaugural Tribura Series is a celebration of their achievement. We are proud and honoured to be sharing it with the world today.”
