Jura Rum Cask Finish saw an initial maturation in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in hand-selected Caribbean rum casks.
The distiller says the rum casks have given an 'exotic flair' to this rich amber liquid, with notes of guava and coconut on the nose and mango sweetness on the palate.
It is the third release in the Jura Cask Editions series, after the Winter Edition and Red Wine Cask Edition. The whisky comes presented in a silver carton with floral decorations to celebrate its Caribbean connections.
Gregg Glass, whisky maker and blender at Jura owner Whyte & Mackay, said: "Our Jura Cask Editions have been created to showcase cask types in partnership with the Jura distillery character. The flavours offer interesting interpretations of our classic style, making them ideal for those looking to explore new flavours and finishes.
"With Jura Rum Cask Finish, the taste experience has been enhanced through the finish to create a beautifully tropical and fruity result. In making this release, we wanted to share a single malt that is easy drinking and great value with compelling character."
Kirsteen Beeston, head of international malts at Whyte & Mackay, said: "Summer is on its way, and with it, consumers are seeking fruity, vibrant flavours that they can enjoy both mixed and on their own. Jura Rum Cask Edition offers an easy sipper that will transport taste buds to tropical islands by way of the remote Scottish island of Jura."
Jura Rum Cask Finish launches initially in the UK and will be available in Tesco stores from mid-March 2021, RRP £45 for a one-litre bottle.
