Whisky Magazine will again be present at this year’s Kentucky Bourbon Festival, which is to be held in the heart of bourbon country in September.Bardstown, Kentucky, is the centre of the world’s bourbon industry. It’s a town steeped with history having been home to the spirit since 1776 – it’s the natural location for a weekend celebration of all things bourbon and the perfect place to enjoy true Kentucky hospitality.From Wednesday 12th September until Sunday 16th September 2001, visitors will be treated to a number of unique events and gatherings only available to those attending the festival. As well as opportunities to visit the distilleries there will be chances to taste a huge range of bourbons, see the coopers at work and even watch the festival’s signature event, the World Championship Bourbon Barrel Relay. Here the competitiors will roll 500lb Bourbon barrels in a race against time in individual men’s, women’s and team categories.The highlight of the week is the gala dinner, which is to be held on Saturday 15th September. Described as a “bourbon lover’s dream” by the festival organisers, it’s a chance for the 1,000 guests to sample the finest Kentucky bourbons and meet the Master Distillers. Following the tasting there will be a gourmet meal and dancing till the wee small hours. It’s a true showcase of what Bardstown has to offer and is a must for all lovers of bourbon.
