Both bottlings will be available to purchase during their respective 'days' at the festival (Saturday 27 May for Lagavulin and Monday 29 May for Caol Ila), and thereafter will be exclusively available at their individual distilleries.
The Caol Ila Fèis Ìle 2023 13 Years Old marks the first time the distillery will host the festival from its new visitor experience, opened in late 2022. The limited edition has been matured in Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry-seasoned butts. It is bottled at 60.4% ABV with a recommended price of £185 per bottle.
In commemoration of this significant year for Caol Ila, festival visitors will also have the chance to purchase a distillery-exclusive managers bottling.
Sam Hale, distillery manager at Caol Ila, said, “Fèis Ìle is always a remarkable time for us and we’re so excited to host it for the first time in our new visitor experience. This bottling is a special one for the team and we’re looking forward to raising a glass together with our fans."
The Lagavulin Fèis Ìle 2023 release is a 14-year-old single malt matured in a combination of American and European oak casks and, in a first for the brand, finished in Armagnac casks. It is bottled at 58.4% ABV with a recommended price of £220 per bottle.
Jordan Paisley, Lagavulin distillery manager said: “Lagavulin Fèis Ìle is always a celebration for us all on Islay, and as we come together to share a dram, this year’s release is no different. This combination of casks is a special nod to our team near and far as we continue to surprise our fans with unexpected flavours and twists on their favourite whisky."
Both distilleries will be hosting full days of festivities during this year's festival. On 27 May, Lagavulin will open its doors for a day of music and whisky tastings, including a warehouse tasting with warehouse manager Iain McArthur. Then, on 29 May, Caol Ila will welcome visitors to its brand-new visitor experience with live music performances, tours, and a chocolate tasting.
Fellow Ileach Ardbeg, whose 'day' in the festival is Saturday 3 June, has also revealed its Fèis Ìle 2023 release, Heavy Vapours.
