Independent bottler Living Souls, which launched in November 2024, has announced a four-strong collection of new whiskies. The release follows the brand's inaugural collection of Scotch whiskies released last year.
The varied collection includes Ninety-Nine & One (46.3% ABV, RRP £58.50), a blended Scotch created in a "happy accident" that saw a heavily peated malt blended with "a touch of grain", a Balblair 10 Years Old single malt (46% ABV, RRP £55) finished in Limousin oak XO Cognac casks, a Dumbarton 25 Years Old single grain whisky (50.5% ABV, RRP £82), and a 40-year-old blended Scotch (45.1% RRP £125).
The latter has been made up of 40 per cent malt whisky from distilleries including Glenfarclas, Fettercairn, and Glen Garioch, and 60 per cent grain whisky, mostly from the now-closed Cambus distillery. The whisky was drawn from ex-Islay sherry casks to add "a whisper of smoke" to its "dialled-up tropical fruit notes".
Co-founder Calum Leslie commented: "This batch is where we really start to show the range of what Living Souls can offer. From a happy accident that turned into a bold, peated experiment, to an ultra-rare 40-year-old blend drawn from closed distilleries, each whisky is bottled with intention, created to express something distinctive and memorable."
Co-founder Jamie Williamson added: "With this new batch, we’ve expanded the spectrum from vibrant and youthful to complex and aged, while holding true to our principle of bottling only the most distinctive spirit. There’s personality in every drop, and I think that’s what makes these releases so compelling."
Living Souls' new collection will be available via specialist retailers in the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
