On 26 July 2025, members of the whisky and cigar industries gathered at Carlowrie Castle near Edinburgh, Scotland for the first Meet the Makers event since 2019.
Hosted by TOR Imports and Robert Graham 1874, the fundraising event brought together 250 guests from around the world. The group gathered to meet cigar and whisky makers and attend the day's celebrations: panels, music, an auction, and a Highland Games competition, which saw "Team Whisky" defeat "Team Cigars" in a tug-of-war competition.
The event raised more than US$30,000 to benefit its three chosen charities. The funds will support the Yard, a Scottish charity offering plate and respite services for disabled children, young people, and their families; Fe y Alegría, a Nicuraguan charity supporting access to quality education for children and young people living in poverty; and Lothian Children's Deaf Club, a community for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families in the Lothians region of Scotland.
Scott Vines, managing director of TOR Imports, commented: “This event was about more than cigars and whisky. It was about connection, community and giving something meaningful back. We’re deeply grateful to all who travelled, contributed, and made this possible.”

Whisky makers in attendance included Tomatin Distillery, Annandale, Bruichladdich, and the Dalmore, while among the 13 cigar makers represented were AJ Fernamdec, Drew Estate, Oliva Cigars, and La Flor Dominicana. The six panel discussions included "Oak and Smoke", exploring wood and smoke flavour in whisky, and "Tradition vs Innovation", discussing the issue of balancing heritage and modernity in cigar making.
The event ended with a Leaf and Malt reception and live charity auction, with lots donated by the makers.
