Kentucky's Michter's Distillery has announced the 2025 editions of two whiskeys joining its Legacy Series this summer. 

Due to be released in July, the distillery has revealed the 2025 editions of its annual Legacy bottlings Shenk’s Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey and Bomberger’s Declaration Kentucky Straight Bourbon. 

The expression pay homage to Michter's heritage: it was founded as Shenk's distillery in 1753 by John Shenk in Pennysylvania. The distillery was renamed to Bomberger's Distillery in the 19th century before its final change to Michter's in the 1950s. 

The 2025 Shenk's release includes whiskey finished in French oak toasted barrels made from wood grown in the Vosges forest. Michter's master distiller Dan McKee explained that the wood choice "helped to accentuate the character of the rye in this whiskey", adding that the bottling has "bold and lingering baking spice notes".

For the Bomberger's Declaration 2025 release, Michter's used chinquapin oak barrels in the maturation process. Master of maturation Andrea Wilson said: "For this year’s release we used a spectrum of different barrels constructed from wood naturally seasoned outdoors in varying cases from 18 months to three years to four years to five years thus changing the chemistry of the oak’s contributions during ageing. The result is a bold and multi-dimensional experience to savour and enjoy."

Shenk’s (45.6% ABV, RRP US$110) and Bomberger’s Declaration (54% ABV, RRP US$120) will be available from July 2025.
