Buffalo Trace Distillery has another round experimental whiskies ready for release. Two more barrels have been selected and bottled from among the 1,500 experiments currently aging.Buffalo Trace Distillery has been experimenting for more than 18 years in an attempt to make the perfect whiskey. Some examples of the ongoing experiments include unique mash bills, types of wood, barrel toasts, and more. Last year was the first time any of these experiments had ever been bottled and made available for sale.Due to be released is Zinfandel aged after six years and after 10 years.“I’ve really enjoyed working on these experimental whiskies,” said Harlen Wheatley, master distiller. “It’s great to push the whiskeymaking envelope and hear such overwhelmingly positive feedback from consumers and the trade.”
