Old Perth 12 Year Old (46% ABV) is non-chill filtered and has no added colour. A blend of Speyside whiskies, it has been exclusively matured in a combination of PX and Oloroso sherry casks, which the distillery says results in warm notes such as spicy orange marmalade and ginger.
Old Perth Vintage 1996 (55.8% ABV) is the first in the series of limited releases, where each whisky will be a vintage bottling limited to a small of number of bottles – 936 for this first release. This whisky blends several sherry-matured single malts, all distilled in 1996. Unlike the core Old Perth range, which uses exclusively Speyside whisky, this release features whiskies from other regions, including Islay, a choice which the distillery says gives a gently smoky undertone.
Niel Hendriksz, sales director at Morrison, said, “We are proud that our Old Perth range of quality blended malt whisky has restored the tradition of blending in Perthshire, once synonymous with so many great whiskies.”
