Scotch: The Stories Behind Scotland’s Iconic Spirit is the new book from photographer Horst A. Friedrichs and travel writer Stuart Husband. The pair travelled 8,000 miles across Scotland, visiting whisky-makers and uncovering their stories.

The book showcases seventeen Scottish distilleries through which Friedrichs and Husband explore the past, present and future of Scotch. Their travels take them to Springbank in Campbeltown, Ardbeg on the Isle of Islay, Dornoch in the Highlands, and many more.

Along the way, through Friedrichs’ photography and Husband’s words, they record how whisky is being made, from ancient and traditional processes to pioneering technology.

Previous collaborations from Friedrichs and Husband include Bookstores: A Celebration of Independent Booksellers and Great Pubs of England: Thirty-three of England's Best Hostelries from the Home Counties to the North.

Scotch: The Stories Behind Scotland’s Iconic Spirit will be published by Prestel on 12 March 2024.
