Chivas Brothers has announced new entries to its global travel retail offering via two of its premium blended whisky brands.
The latest release from Royal Salute is the Small Batch collection of whiskies. The eight limited-edition whiskies, all presented in distinctive glazed purple flagons, are exclusive to global travel retail.
The blended Scotch and blended malt whiskies all age between 25 and 28 years old. Exploring different cask effects, the collection includes expressions finished in rye casks, French Limousin oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and more.
Sandy Hyslop, master blender, commented: “Each of the eight whiskies available in this Small Batch collection were matured in special casks which I have personally selected on my travels around the world. This is a truly unique collection, with each individual whisky having a unique flavour profile, providing an array of choice to suit different preferences and open up new tasting experiences.”
The Royal Salute Small Batch collection is available from various locations in global travel retail at RRPs from US$450 to $750.
Also in global travel retail, Chivas Brothers’ brand Ballantine’s has unveiled its new series Golden Hour, a nod to its ‘Time Well Spent’ ethos. Each release in the series will be a 23-year-old blended Scotch finished in a different cask type.
The inaugural release in the series has a Cognac finish —making it the first Ballantine’s whisky to be finished in Cognac casks.
Hyslop commented: “Introducing an unexpected twist to our widely loved Ballantine’s 23 Years Old is a big responsibility and this exclusive release caters for aficionados searching for a new drinking experience with a sweeter profile. Pushing our cask diversification into ex-Cognac barrels is an exciting innovation in Ballantine’s history and the result is a luxurious and vibrant Scotch.”
The Golden Hour 23 Years Old Cognac Cask Finish (40% ABV) has launched exclusively to Asia Pacific global travel retail outlets with a RRP of US$279
