The Irish whiskey brand was born in the grounds of the historic Slane Castle, in the Boyne Valley, where St Patrick is said to have scaled a hill and lit the 'Easter fire' in defence of the High King at nearby Tara in 433 AD — an act which changed the course of Ireland's spiritual history.
The team behind Slane Irish Whiskey say the triple-distilled spirit has the perfect character for an Irish coffee cocktail and they have created one to mark the national event this year, Jack's suSLANEable cocktail, which they think pays appropriate homage to Ireland's iconic saint.
This follows the launch of the distillery 'susSLANEability' cocktail competition last year, which aimed to highlight the distillery's sustainable credentials.
See the recipe below and try it out for yourself this St Patrick's Day.
