Both Whisky.Auction and Whisky Auctioneer offer monthly online auctions, which between them showcase a stunning array of old, rare, and interesting bottles of wines and spirits, and over the next few days two extremely exciting auctions will be coming to a close. Below are some whiskies to watch:
The Macallan Red collection 71-year-old
Whisky.Auction’s auction director, Isabel Graham-Yooll, has highlighted this bottling as one to keep an eye on. The Macallan Red collection launched towards the end of 2020, with buyers having to register advance interest to allow them to purchase one of the rare bottles, and since a Macallan Red 78-year-old sold for £88,000, several other bottles from the collection failed to meet their reserve through other auction houses.
Compass Box Juveniles 20th Anniversary
Whisky Auctioneer has recently unveiled a collection of bottles produced by one of the world’s most innovative whisky makers – Compass Box. The collection comprises over 130 expressions, collated by an anonymous whisky enthusiast known only as ‘Pat’, and this 20th Anniversary bottling celebrates the Parisian bar, wine and spirit merchant for which it is named. Just 246 bottles of this limited release exist in the world.
Two different Springbank 30-year-old expressions
These bottlings are certainly ones to keep an eye on, as Isabel Graham-Yooll has noted. Despite the rarity of some other bottlings in this auction, these two Springbanks from Whisky.Auction are no less impressive than their peers, particularly as these two different 30-year-olds are highly sought after by enthusiasts.
Compass Box Bern’s 41-year-old
Released in 2015, this sought-after expression is part of the Compass Box collection being sold by Whisky Auctioneer. This bottling is made up of five unique casks from Strathclyde and Girvan, and only 120 bottles of this limited-edition whisky were ever available in retail.
A selection of early 20th century blends
This collection of over 100 blended whiskies is sure to excite whisky historians; the bottles date back to the early 20th century, and between them chart the history of the Distillers Company. Another from Whisky.Auction, and certainly not one to miss.
