North Yorkshire distillery Spirit of Yorkshire is celebrating its county today with its annual Yorkshire Day bottling under its brand Filey Bay.
“This year, it’s all about layers,” said whisky director Joe Clark, commenting on Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2024. Red wine, Madeira, sherry, and new oak casks were used during the whisky’s maturation. The resulting flavour profile is “fruity and complex, with flavours of wine gums, brioche, stone fruit and baking spices,” Clark continued.
Now in its fifth iteration, the distillery’s Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2024 whisky release debuted at the Spirit of Yorkshire distillery open day held at the end of July. Clark added: “We welcomed over 500 people to the distillery's Open and Cask Owner days over the weekend and everyone was blown away by this special release.”
The new bottling is released in Filey Bay’s new cut-away carton, providing a better view to the embossed bottle.
Spirit of Yorkshire is well-acquainted with cask-finish whiskies. The distillery recently collaborated with its sister brewery Rip Curl for a cask exchange, resulting in Filey Bay Porter Cask and a Rip Curl porter matured in whisky casks.
Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2024 is bottled at 55% ABV and is available via Spirit of Yorkshire for RRP £95.
