Whisky Magazine has made the Top 10 global shortlist in three different categories at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards 2022, the 16th edition of the awards dedicated to recognising talent across the industry.
The three shortlists featuring Whisky Magazine in the Writing & Media categories are as follows:
Best Cocktail & Spirits Publication presented by Diageo Bar Academy
• Whisky Magazine
Best Broadcast, Podcast, or Online Video Series presented by Diageo Bar Academy
• A Life in Whisky: The Dennis Malcolm Story (A documentary by Whisky Magazine)
Best Cocktail & Spirits Writing presented by Diageo Bar Academy
• “Mexican Terroir” by Liza Weisstuch, for Whisky Magazine
The next phase of voting will reveal the Top 4 finalists in each category on June 21st, with the overall winners presented in-person on July 28th in New Orleans, in partnership with Forbes.
Each category has its own co-chairs, with those representing Writing & Media including François Monti, Paul Clarke, Matthew Rowley and Sandrae Lawrence. The other categories include US, International and Global.
Also shortlisted alongside Whisky Magazine for Best Cocktail & Spirits Publication are: CLASS magazine, Difford’s Guide, Discard the Zine, DRiNK Magazine Asia, Drinks International, Liquor.com, The Cocktail Lovers magazine, The Spirits Business and VinePair.
Jacob Briars, Spirited Awards International Chair, said the following on the nominations announcement: "It’s been a challenging couple of years for bars and restaurants, but these nominees are a reflection of the strong spirit of our industry in spite of challenges – bold new openings, bars and bartenders who continue to strive for excellence, and a whole lot of hard-working staff who deserve amazing recognition and our support.
