That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is delving deeper into the Australian distilling scene with a new collection, Return to Oz.

Coming two years after the independent bottler's sell-out Australia Series, the Return to Oz collection brings together some award-winning and hard-to-find whiskies from Down Under. The series includes liquid from six whisky distilleries not previously bottled by TBWC, new casks from two distilleries featured in its first Australia Series, and a new cask from the first Australian whisky bottled by TBWC, back in 2015.

While primarily comprising single malt whiskies, the collection also includes a rye whisky and a brandy, and will be released in tandem with a range of Australian rums from That Boutique-y Rum Company.

TBWC incorporated some geographically relevant imagery – the Southern Cross constellation – into the labels of its first Australia Series bottlings, and it has continued this tradition with the Return to Oz collection: in a nod to Australia's famously dangerous wildlife, each label design incorporates a deadly animal that can be found in the area where the whisky distillery is located.

Return to Oz is the latest quarterly themed release from TBWC, following 2022 releases 10th Birthday, the NorWest Euro Express, and Boutique-y Records.

According to figures collated by statista.com, revenue in the Australian whisky market currently stands at around £1.52 billion with growth of nearly 4 per cent projected over the next three years (2023–2025).

Dave Worthington, global brand ambassador for That Boutique-y Whisky Company, said: "After the success of our first trip down under in 2021, I’m delighted that we’ve been able to return so soon, and to come back with another great selection of whiskies. There's plenty to discover with this release, from some very small-scale distilleries that you might not have come across before, to some you will have heard of. There’s a welcome return to the very first Australian distillery we ever bottled, Overeem, with a great new label, as well as a couple of new releases from distilleries we featured in our first series."

Alongside the Return to Oz collection, TBWC is also releasing a new series of Scotch whisky bottlings from distilleries including Caol Ila, Glen Elgin, Macduff and Craigellachie.

The full Return to Oz collection includes Chief's Son 5 Years Old, Corowa 4 Years Old, Fleurieu 3 Years Old, Launceston 5 Years Old, Limeburners 5 Years Old, Overeem 5 Years Old, Riverbourne 2 Years Old, The Gospel 3 Years Old and Tria Prima 2 Years Old. The collection will be available globally from 27 January 2023 through Atom Brands and Maverick Drinks, as well as online via Master of Malt and The Whisky Shop and independent spirits retailers including Hedonism and The Whisky World. Recommended prices range by bottling from £74.95 to £159.95.
