The Lakes Distillery has announced Isadora, a limited-edition single malt to be released on International Women’s Day this Sunday 8 March. The whisky has been made to celebrate “the spirit of modernity and inclusivity in the world of whisky”.
Released in the distillery’s Whiskymaker’s Editions series, Isadora is named for contemporary dance pioneer Isadora Duncan. Just 900 individually-numbered bottles have been created by Sarah Burgess, whom the Lakes appointed as whiskymaker earlier last year.
Speaking on the released, Burgess said: “Designed with élevage, we aimed to create an elegant and timeless sherry-led whisky with a modern twist. Free from traditional constraints, Isadora invites you to take a graceful waltz through a rich tapestry of flavours, culminating in a crescendo of bitter dark chocolate and a luxuriously long mouth-coating finish.”
The Lakes will mark the release with a charitable prize draw to win bottle number one of Isadora. The draw can be entered online, and is held in aid of the OurWhisky Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organisation which seeks to empower women working in whisky, and advocated for inclusivity and diversity in the whisky industry.
Becky Paskin, who founded the OurWhisky Foundation in 2022, commented: “Sarah is not only a master in her craft but also a mentor for and an ardent supporter of the OurWhisky Foundation. We are thrilled that she and The Lakes are contributing to our fundraising efforts with the inaugural bottle of Isadora.”
