The Macallan has collaborated with tea brand Jing to create two additions to its annual Harmony Collection. The whiskies, Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea, "pay homage" to both tea and nature.

Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea has predominantly been matured in sherry-seasoned American oak casks, with sherry-seasoned European oak and ex-bourbon casks, for a "warm honey hue" that is intended to reflect the tea. The Phoenix Honey Orchid tea is an oolong tea grown in the Phoenix Mountain range of Guangdong in China, which is said to have desert wine and exotic fruit aromas. The Macallan says the whisky inspired by it has notes of peach, apricot, honey, tropical fruit, and toffee.

Released exclusively to travel retail, Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea draws on flavours found in the Jing tea, which is smoked over cherrywood. The whisky been primarily matured in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, with a selection of sherry-seasoned American oak as well.

Working with JING has allowed us to explore new dimensions of flavour and storytelling, creating two whiskies that are both innovative and deeply connected to the land.”

The presentation boxes for both whiskies have been made using repurposed tea leaves, in line with the Harmony Collection's tradition of using organic materials at the end of their natural lives in its packaging.

The Macallan Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea (43.9% ABV, RRP £152) will be available via select retailers from 5 August 2025. Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea (44.9% ABV) will launch in Global Travel Retail from 1 October 2025.
