The first three releases in this collection are 2022 editions of M and M Black, and the brand-new M Copper, the latter paying tribute to the copper stills utilised by The Macallan since its 1824 formation.
Firstly, The Macallan M 2022 release is bottled at 45% and has an RRSP of £5,000. The producer has described it as having nose notes of sweet black cherry and demerara sugar, a liquorice and tea leaves palate with notes of chocolate orange, followed up with a rich dried fruit and dark chocolate finish.
Secondly, The Macallan M Black 2022 release has been bottled slightly higher at 46%, with an also-slightly-higher RRSP of £5,700. It’s described as having notes of fresh apple, pear and citrus on the nose, a taste of candied oranges and charred peaches, concluded with a long peat smoke and sweet raisin finish.
Last but not least, The Macallan M Copper 2022 release is bottled at 42%, the lowest percentage of the three, with an RRSP of £6,250, which happens to be the highest of the three. Nose notes of sweet banana, pear and white peach combine with a pear drops, caramelised banana and sherbet mouthfeel, while its long finish has notes of toasted oak.
Global Creator Director for The Macallan, Jaume Ferras, said on the collection: “Our Six Pillars foundation stones embody all that is unique to The Macallan, together underpinning the renowned quality and rich character of our whisky. The Macallan M Collection tells the story of these unique attributes and our dedication to uncompromised excellence.”
Chairman and CEO of Lalique, Silvio Denz, followed up: “It is an honour to work with The Macallan - our long-standing partner for 16 years - to realise this exquisite collection and showcase our shared sense of mastery, craftsmanship and heritage. The decanters are completely unique in the world of decanters, very difficult to produce because of their shape and Lalique’s masters of crystal have relished applying their most complex skills to bring Fabien Baron’s creative vision to life.”
The M collection will be available worldwide in domestic and travel retail markets, including The Macallan Estate, The Macallan Airport Boutiques, select luxury hotels and bars and premium retailers around the world from June 20th 2022. More information can be found here.
