The Single Malts of Scotland, an independent bottling range produced by Elixir Distillers, has unveiled seven new bottlings for 2023, each one showcasing the different characteristics of Scotland's diverse distilleries.
The new release comprises three bottlings for the Reserve Casks Parcel 11 series and four for the A Marriage of Casks series.
The Reserve Casks come in small batches of three to ten casks. Bottled at a consistent 48% with no added colour and no chill-filtration, the Reserve Casks are intended to appeal to both novices and experts alike. The Reserve Casks Parcel 11 comprises:
- Ardmore Distillery: A 13-year-old Highland single malt aged in a combination of ex-peated whisky casks from Laphroaig and refill barrels. RRP £69.95
- Caol Ila Distillery: An 11-year-old single malt made from four refill butts produced in Port Askaig on Islay’s eastern shore. RRP £65.95
- An Orkney Distillery: An 11-year-old Highland single malt aged in oloroso sherry butts. RRP £65.95
The Marriage of Casks series focuses on the artistry of blending, providing whisky enthusiasts a chance to experience flavours that only select casks can provide. The new additions are:
- A Speyside Distillery: A 31-year-old Speyside single malt from 1992, matured in three barrels from a marriage of whiskies. RRP £325
- An Islay Distillery: A 30-year-old Islay single malt from 1990 to 1991, aged in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks. RRP £400
- Imperial Distillery: A marriage of whiskies from 1995, matured in just three American oak refill barrels. RRP £850
- Ardmore Distillery: A marriage of whiskies from 1997, matured in just three hogsheads. RRP £215
