Speyside distillery Tormore has revealed a new collection of limited-edition whiskies. The Blueprint bottlings will be the first official releases from the distillery since its takeover by Elixir Distillers.
The distillery says the Blueprint series lays the "foundation" for its future, ahead of its new brand launch in 2026. Tormore was founded in 1959, and Elixir Distillers says that under its ownership Tormore has "restored traditional methods" to enhance the fruit-forward character of its spirit.
The three-strong Blueprint series includes a bourbon cask, a cream sherry cask, and a toasted oak cask whisky, each with an age statement of 10 Years Old.
Described as "the core" of future Tormore, the Blueprint 10 Years Old Bourbon Barrels has been aged in first-fill bourbon casks, which the distillery says brings caramel and coconut notes to complement the pear, nectarine, and walnut flavours of its new make spirit.
Blueprint 10 Years Old Cream Sherry Cask makes use of cream sherry casks — a style of sherry traditionally created by blending a dryer sherry, such as a oloroso, with a sweeter one, such as Pedro Ximénez. Tormore says the cream sherry leaves "residual sugars from the Pedro Ximénez", as well as dried fruit and orange peel notes.
Rounding out the collection is Blueprint 10 Years Old Toasted Barrel, aged in new American oak casks toasted and charred to Tormore's specifications — a long toast and medium char, which the distillery says encourages better extracts of compounds such as vanillin from the casks.
The three Tormore Blueprint bottlings (all 48% ABV and RRP £59.95 each), will be available globally via specialist retailers from June 2025.
