Independent bottler W.D. O’Connell Whiskey Merchants has released Tomásín (pronounced “thumb-aus-een”), its first single pot still Irish whiskey. It follows in the wake of the PX series, the Sherry series, and the Bill Phil and Bourbon & Rye expressions, all released this winter season.

Available exclusively at the W.D. O’Connell online store, Tomásín is named after the home of the company’s new headquarters in Choill Mhic Thomáisín (or Kilmacthomas in English), Co. Waterford.

W.D. O’Connell founder, Daithí O’Connell, said, “The Pot Still range will take time to develop. We have been working on multiple cask styles over the last 2 years and it will take maybe another 18 months to two years to get to a place where we can release a small batch variation; so in the meantime, we will showcase our different cask styles individually.”

Tomásín was first matured in a first-fill ex-bourbon cask for three years and 10 months. It was then transferred to an ex-Bill Phil peated cask for an additional 16 months. It is bottled without chill filtration at 49% ABV and is limited to 250 bottles (RRP €79.95).
