Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Similar to the 30 Years Old, this time with extra coconut and fragrance (green fig, lemon, marshmallow) then there's cooked pear. Becomes waxy with some pollen.

Palate: An ash-like quality then a subtle, fragrant, palate. Aromatic woods, pot pourri. Light and creamy with a lovely texture that lifts into. After Eight mint.

Finish: Dries to cereal again.

Comment: Old but still fresh. All very discreet. At its best neat.

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: Floral, perfumy. Cedary with a pleasant earthy note (pine needles). The floral note is swept by fruit (apple juice).

Palate: Smooth and velvety. Very fresh and inviting. Liquorice losanges. Hint of toffee.

Finish: Biscuity, lingers on liquorice, with a hint of oak.

Comment: An appetising dram, more complex than it seems. Still alert though quite matured (quite a comforting thought !)
