Taster

Nose: Phenolic. Tarry. Creosote. Farm yard. The full package!

Palate: Sweet and oily. But flowing gently. A salty feel. Fish oil. Touch of citrus and mint. Drying on spices. Fizzy.

Finish: Dry, sharp.

Comment: A full weight peaty character matured in a refill hogshead. Displays an assertive phenolic character but has not gained much from the cask.

Taster

Nose: There's obvious smokiness which starts as sweet tobacco and then moves slowly towards a cowshed aroma. There's vanilla, estery notes, unripe apricot and a pleasant dustiness.

Palate: Light, sweet start which opens slowly into banana. The smoke blasts through in the middle of the tongue, but is immediately controlled by the vanilla. With water it's nicely agricultural.

Finish: Clean and pure.

Comment: Another fine smoked Benriach.
