Tasting Notes

Nose

Sherry central. Bitter chocolate, coffee grounds, treacle, liquorice, tinned prunes in syrup. A leathery/shoe polish note suggestive of age. Smoke emerges but in a savoury way.

Palate

The nose shouts: 'here be tannins'

Finish

Tarry and nutty malt.

Comment

An acquired taste. Some will like it, but it's too woody and nothing on the 1974 bottling by la Maison du Whisky.
