Nose

Dusty hayloft, cedarwood, cherry brandy, dark chocolate, ginger root, chinotto and black treacle.

Palate

Light-medium bodied. Caramel, coffee liqueur, sweet red berry fruits (strawberry, blackberry, cherry), orange oils, sage and wonderfully bittersweet, reminiscent of amaro, though the sweetness wins out.

Finish

Medium. ‘Green’ notes of cucumber and apple core emerge, but the berries remain.

Comment

A complex and balanced single malt, with some youthful character that suggests it will get even better.
