Nose

Marvellously rich dried fruits and black fruits: from raisins and figs into blackcurrants, blackberries, with cranberry sauce. Hints of game meat, with spiced chutney.

Palate

Intensely fruity: raisins, sultanas with elderberry, Port-like. Molasses. Muscovado sugar. Malt loaf. Tartness – sharp redcurrants and blackcurrants.

Finish

Chewy, balsamic vinegar and elderberries. Ginger.

Comment

Such a flavoursome whisky. Not perfect, not overly complex, but a fun dram.
