A really lovely dram – the lack of spice makes it sweet all the way.

Nose: Buttered corn, Refresher sweets. A faint metallic edge, but rounded with sweetness – like tinned strawberries. Rhubarb compete, dried pineapple and coconut. A grain note similar to Rice Krispies.
Palate: Sweet with honey. Syrup waffles with melted dark chocolate. Poached pears, rhubarb and creaminess of custard. Sugared almonds.
Finish: Long and sweet with a little black smoked tea tannins.
Comment: A really lovely dram – the lack of spice makes it sweet all the way.
Score: 8.5
Taster
Nose: A herbal smoke. Fire in a pine forest. Fresh rye bread then toffee apples. A faint winey note...
Palate: More smoke upfront – a little sweeter than the nose however. Leads into vanilla and where was there was apple, there's now butterscotch and banana. Never gets too sweet as the cereal, malty note remains.
Finish: Lingers with you gently. That bread note just rolls on and on.
Comment: Good stuff – really interesting development of the palate. Nose is a bit quiet, but says more than enough later on.
Score: 8.1
