Nose
An evocative entry of wood polish, leather, mahogany. It’s oily straight away, with lovely coastal notes, plus pan-fried bananas, rancio, sticky toffee, glazed oranges, and a bit of forest floor.
Palate
Chewy, big and rich, with layered wood spice, baked pears, almonds, honey, fruitcake, chocolate, Bakewell tart, and a faint hint of smoke.
Finish
A deep finish of sweet tobacco, old leather, and spice. It just keeps going.
Comment
A really exceptional whisky, with huge complexity, beautiful wood integration, and perfect balance.
