Nose
A true smell of Islay – the fruity, estery aromas from the still room, embers of a wood fire, seaweed and sea breeze, some TCP and a piece of clootie dumpling thrown in!
Palate
The initial impression is of dark, chewy charcoal, but the heart of this is actually very herbal and green – anise, sticky hops and eucalyptus specifically.
Finish
Those herbal green characters keep playing on amongst some sea grass and some dried chilli flakes.
Comment
Greener than I’d expected, but a solid dram from the Queen of the Hebrides.
