Nose
Luscious and rich. There’s some bright dried orange peel, almonds, and beeswax. Cooked sultanas and dried apricots.
Palate
Fairly tannic on immediate contact — the dram coats the mouth, drying it out. There are notes of ginger cake, chocolate-covered raisins, dried orange peel, salted and roasted almonds, some peppercorn spice, and a touch of dark honey.
Finish
Very pleasant — a hint of bitterness alongside woody notes from the cask.
Comment
A well-made and aged whisky with a nose that pulls me back.
