Nose

Burnt toffee, caramel, Turkish Delight, and solventy. Lingers in a heady, honeyed, syrup zone. Cinnamon, creme brûlée. Some dried fruits: sultanas and raisins, mainly.

Palate

Rounded, muscovado sugar falling to blackcurrants, balsamic vinegar. Crab apple jelly. Mead. Armagnac. It’s all a bit contained though.

Finish

Short, oily, with molasses and dried fruits. Flavours drop off a cliff.

Comment

Pleasant flavours feel somehow trapped, somewhat genie-like, within the spirit.
