Taster

Nose: There is a full-bodied nose to this dram, which suggest a good (possibly new) wood ageing. The result is lots of oak spice, pine nuts and fresh forest floor. \n

Palate: Overly bitter and spicy without water, but once that’s added it comes to life as a warming dram – very much the water of life. If I was stuck camping I’d like a hip flask of this. \n

Finish: More oak on the finish with big blood orange notes.\n

Comment: A really lovely whisky in the new world style.

Taster

Nose: Soft, nutty Oloroso and peat smoke. Briny with cinder toffee, treacle and fruit. Medicinal with boiled sweets, heather and vanilla custard. Toasty oak and a touch of manure with water.

Palate: Manzanilla-like, nutty with treacle, prune, walnuts, liquorice, charcoal and peat. Bitter chocolate on the middle. Water brings out barley and honey. \n

Finish: Long and smoky with mouth-coating dusty peat, burnt wood and treacle. Water emphasises the sweeter peat notes and heather. \n

Comment: A fascinating experience!
