Nose

A big, rich bourbon: woodwork shop, sweet-cherry lollies, and cherry blossoms dominate. Then liquorice powder, cola, cedar wood, baked banana bread, molasses, and some apple tarte Tatin.

Palate

A surprising note of rose Turkish delight is followed by dark chocolate cherry liqueur, cherry bitters, candied chestnuts, and chocolate. There’s something overripe here, like black bananas.

Finish

Intense cherry lolly that sticks around.

Enjoyable, but quite brash — a Manhattan in a Glencairn.
