Nose
Intensely savoury: black bean, coffee, miso and smoked beef jerky. Beneath, red apple and manuka honey. Candied ginger and nutmeg. Physalis and flan base.
Palate
Medium bodied. Smoked fruits (red apple, pear) with rice wine and quince. A pleasant cashew note emerges slowly. More of that beef jerky, too.
Finish
Medium-long. Ashy, then the red apple becomes assertive.
Comment
There’s something baijiu-y about the nose, but the palate brings us solidly back to Scotland. A nice drop, but not quite complex enough to edge higher.
