Overall
Score
7.5
Nose
Highly phenolic. Big hit of tar and a menthol note that’s reminiscent of Vicks Vapo-rub. Light sweet pear in the centre. Quite salty.
Palate
Lightly fragrant and slightly herbal. Very clean.Fresh fish. Pleasant, then a drying peaty grist note runs through. Does not like water on the palate.
Finish
Oakcakes.
Comment
The smoke is in balance, but maybe just lacks a little extra complexity from the wood to lift the score.
