Nose

A punchy blend that takes a bit of work when nosed neat; needs water to open up. Some soft toffee, chamomile flowers, pears, and wood sap.

Palate

Again, far too hot without water but once that’s added, there’s a nice bit of clove spice, runny honey, and pears.

Finish

Medium length with a hit of bitterness after the whisky dissipates.

Comment

Needed water — not a bad thing — but the nose was better with water, and the palate lacked slightly once that was added. Nice but not a showstopper.
